Let’s hear form Gill Shaw on how she Pops Up using WhatsApp and maximises this channel for her MeAmora business.
WhatsApp business and creating WhatsApp events has not only given me the MeAmora/JOAH business I have but its gifted me hosts, new stylists and many, many incentives into the bargain. MeAmora works as a business concept. YOU just need to find YOUR HOW.
Whether that’s a …
- POP UP – Face to face in your home, someone else’s home or work place
- Events – Wedding fayres, craft fayres, school fayres – check locally whats happening
- Facebook events – you’re on screen and people join you at X time
- Zoom as an online “party’ where you’re face to face on screen
- WhatsApp – no cameras needed.
For me, it was and still is … WhatsApp
Yes I do Facebook Lives consistently, I post into my personal and FB page consistently too but WhatsApp is my MeAmora “happy place” for now!!!
Everyone uses WhatsApp these days rather than texting, as its easy to create groups and easy to share “stuff” there
First Steps
- Use WhatsApp Business – don’t be nervous about it – I was, and it was unwarranted.
- Set up a WhatsApp Group with yourself and 1 other – it creates the “group” for you
- I set up the group approx. 2 weeks prior to the event and I drop a visual into the group sometimes two, in the build-up. I do ask attendees to invite anyone they think would love to be there with us too
- Write a description for the group, colour code it, use an eye-catching visual and give it a fab name too!
- Set up a pop up link in MEA
Start To Share & Engage
- Contact your favourite customers, your best customers, your VIPS and ask them personally (voicemail, text, message) that you would love their help in them joining you in a special group to launch special products … for example, next week JOAH Rituals 2 & 3
- Start adding or inviting those who say yes to joining the group. Welcome all who join with a Welcome visual or hug. If someone joins the group who you don’t know … voicemail the group or type a message to simply say “I’d love to welcome you to the group formally … could I have your name please?” they normally reply back!
- I always host myself a WhatsApp event for the NEW NAILS launched … JOAH obviously too. You do not need a lot of people in a group for this to be successful.
- Use the MeAmora visuals as a guide that are available already in Stylist Community or here on The Hub
- Write a flow script you can follow and drop into your ‘Notes” on your phone so you can copy and paste any text you want too. I add to this any visuals I feel I will need/use once I have the script
The Flow
- It’s split into 4 sections with a Q+A after each one
- Welcome – me, company, product range in general
- The event itself – what you’re launching or talking about that night
- Offers if any are available and to treat themselves to products via your Pop Up link you will provide
- Share with them the Hosting and joining opportunity – Then close
Showtime!
- I start the session at the time agree (mine are normally 8pm) and during the actual day I’m counting down, I’m reminding of starting time, grab and pen and some paper to make notes etc etc
- Run through my script and use the 3 V’s – Visuals, Videos and Voicemails to “present” what It is I want too.
- Sometimes/but not always I offer a 1st order prize, which is a personal gift from me here (I did for JOAH) and I hand write a card, choose products from stock, and send direct to them.
- Always offer the Host/VIP Rewards (If it’s my own event) as a Prize Draw for orders placed by a certain date or time. Normally up to midnight the day after.
- I rarely call this link out with the WhatsApp group format so that I can keep the stats right and know what is connected to THAT WhatsApp event is too.
- Thank everyone with a visual for all orders placed and ask for pics of deliveries, products ordered and use – nails applied, lashes applied, JOAH facial so I can use on my socials ongoing
- I tend to stay online for 30 minutes after for any further questions or incase of any issues
- I tend to keep the group open for approx. 2 weeks after the event itself for all of the above and then I close the group and offer the opportunity to be in my VIP group instead which I communicate in and with daily give or take.
Key Takeaways
- Build up is everything! Post to the group prior to the event to build excitement
- Ask guests to invite their connections/ Incentivise them to help you grow
- Create a welcome video or voice note to get guests engaged – Keep it welcoming but generic. This way you can use it again!
- Use the content you create on multiple platforms and for other events if it’s appropriate and stagger the posts
- Include a privacy notice that covers participants’ phone numbers being visible to the group
- Invite guests to join you on other social media platforms
WhatsApp is one of the most popular platforms for keeping in touch and sharing information. It’s also a great platform for interactive Pop-Up.
